Evan Preston is responsible for program and organizational development, research, and legislative advocacy for ConnPIRG. Before becoming director, Evan was a Fellow with OSPIRG. While in Oregon, Evan led OSPIRG's successful campaign to help pass a bi-partisan statewide resolution calling for overturning the U.S. Supreme Court decision, Citizens United, with a constitutional amendment. The resolution passed in 2013 with a majority of Republicans and Democrats voting in favor in the Oregon State House. Evan also helped run campaigns to make healthcare more affordable by pushing back against unjustified insurance rate hikes and to cut taxpayer subsidies for large corporate agri-businesses through means-testing.
Originally from rural central Illinois, Evan graduated with an honors degree in History from Pomona College in 2012. While at Pomona College, Evan led a student-directed non-profit, Challah for Hunger, focusing primarily on advocacy and fundraising to reduce local childhood hunger.
