Annual Toy Survey Cites Products With Lead, Other Toxins - The Hartford Courant (new window)
Hazardous toys are still sold in stores across the country, despite a new law overhauling the nation’s product safety watchdog agency, according to the 23rd annual toy safety survey released today by the Connecticut Public Interest Research Group (ConnPIRG). The group also warned that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is taking actions to delay one of the new law’s toxic toy protections indefinitely.

The nonprofit U.S. Public Interest Research Group released its 24th annual survey of toy safety, Trouble in Toyland, Tuesday. Last year, 19 children under the age of 15 died from toy-related injuries, the report said.This year, to help parents choose safer toys, the group has launched a website accessible by computer ( www.toysafet.net) or mobile phone (toysafety.mobi).

HARTFORD, Conn. -- A consumer group has released it annual list of unsafe toys. There are plenty of interesting updates from the public interest group. The group now believes any toy that can fit entirely into a toilet paper tube presents a choking hazard for a child under the age of 3.
